Glen Roy school

Glen Roy school was established in 1906 on the Lang property (left), which would now be about eight miles north of Jennings just off Highway 102 on the banks of a gully (at the tree line) flowing from Bayou Nezpique and just south of where the Grand Canal is today. The children attending Glen Roy had last names such as Walker, Williams, Jester, Gravelle, Eckel, Landry, Patridge, Broussard, La Bauve, and Ellis, among others and were taught by Lucille Anderson in 1916 and Annie Davis in 1917. In 1918, the school was moved south to higher ground. Later, the school building was moved to Hathway (below - note the brick school building in the background). The building served as the cafeteria when it was moved upon consolidation to the present site of Hathaway High School.
